Creek Family Reunion 2012

Creek...Family...Reunion.  Those three words all together just get me so excited!  I love my family, so having a few days of all of us together is one of the best things I can think of.  There are seven Creek children, and they take turns planning the reunions.  This year it fell to the youngest, my Aunt Cecile and the Shumway clan to put on the show and they did not disappoint.  Here a few, or maybe a lot, of pictures of the fun we had!

The famous coloring contest.  This is a big deal in our family.  Our very own Uncle Chris Creek did the judging.  We have different age groups, lots of prizes and even some cash!  Dannon won this year in the adult division, with AJ second and Caleb third.  It was lots of fun!

Alyssa and Anya after going down the slip 'n slide.  I think that everyone had a great time doing this.  It was hard for me to sit out and spectate.  I just wasn't sure that slip 'n slides and pregnant ladies go well together, especially ones that are this intense!

David managed to surf down the slide.  I think he did it  twice.  What can I say, I married a talented guy!

And of course there was a spoons tournament.

A Creek reunion wouldn't be the same without it.  The cards even had pictures of all the Creek family members!  Very cool!

This was my group, unfortunately I was the first one to go!  After several tournament rounds, Dannon was the winner of the tournament this year.

And now for the talent show.  Caitlin did a tap dance routine.  I was so glad she did it.  It looked like fun and she did great!

These little girlies were super cute.  They got up on stage and shook their little hips for everyone!

And Triton...well, let's just say that he may end up in the Olympics someday, this kid has some awesome tumbling skills!

This skit was fun, not the best picture since I cut off Britney and Brian's heads.  But they sang the "There was an Old Lady" song and it was brilliant.

We made our famous giant ice cream sundae,  it was dee-lish!

and enjoyed by all! :)

Family reunions remind me that this life and the Gospel of Christ are all about families and the love and relationships that we share.  I'm so blessed to be part of such a great family.  Each person has so many talents and each is trying to live the best life they can.  I look up to so many of them, and to the younger ones I hope to be an example of what it means to be a Creek!  Seeing my family together, makes me so excited for the family that I've created with David.  He and I have had a great two years of marriage so far, and we are so looking forward to bringing a daughter home soon!  I think of my grandparents, Dennis and Elna, getting married so many years ago and now to know that there are nearly 100 people in the Creek family is amazing.  I just wonder what the future will be like for David and me and our family.  I hope we can follow in the footsteps of the great families that we come from and teach our children the way our parents taught us.

It was a great reunion and I can't wait for 2015!
