TEAM #87

Just thought everyone should know that I'm married to a champion.  An intramural flag football champion that is!  This game was so stinking excited, as were the last few leading up to the championship.  It is so fun to go and watch David play, he and his team were great this season.  It was also fun to hang out with the girlfriends and wives that came to support as well.  The championship game was well attended, we had so many fans! Caitlin and Isaac came too.  Everyone were such troopers because the weather was not cool! Actually it was very cool, to the point of freezing, not to mention the biting wind. But our guys played great.  After a tough start of playing against the crazy wind, they had some great plays and totally dominated the other team for the rest of the game.  So here's to Team 87 (which is what you get called when you buy the schedule late and can't put your own team name in!) 

Creativity

David had to do something 'creative' as the final project for his History of Creativity class.  He was inspired by the Pointillism art method created by Georges Seurat.  So he decided to create a piece of artwork similar to what Seurat did, only with candy instead of paint.  This project was a lot of fun, for both of us I think.  I always wish I could help David with his homework because he has so much, but that's kind of cheating.  But with this I was able to help a little.  So late Monday night we took a trip to Springville, UT to pick up our materials.  It turns out that Cracker Barrel, yes the restaurant, has lots of candy dots in stock, you know the little candies stuck on white paper, which is just what we needed.  We also found out that they have mega size dots as well.  Along with candy dots, he used nerds to create his 'pointillism' art.  So we stopped at Wal-Mart to get those and some foam board.  We brought everything home and soon our dining room looked like this:

So we stayed up until about 12:30 (which is pretty late for us, especially me!) to pull hundreds of candy dots off the paper strips and separate them by color.  We put in a good 2.5 hours of color dividing.

It started getting pretty ridiculous when we realized the nerds that came in pink and blue boxes were not just pink and blue.  The pink box had pink, red, and white and the blue boxes had blue, purple and white.  And yes, we separated those by color as well.  But we had fun, sometimes silly tasks that keep your hands busy without using much brain power are good for you I think!

I loved all the colors, I think we used every small container in our house to hold all the separate colors. 

David started actually putting it together while I was at work and I came home to this.

After a while the picture really started to take shape, David put in hours on this!

Just a simple tree, but it took a lot of time and work, I think it turned out pretty great!

David let me glue on some of the candy, and this is the final product!  I don't think he's given it a title yet and  now we just have to figure out what to do with artwork made of $30 worth of candy!
