The Best Two Years!

Our second anniversary was on August 14, five days after Lily arrived!  Luckily my mom was around so David and I were able to sneak off (for about an hour) to celebrate.  We had just come home from the hospital a few days earlier so I wasn't up for anything too exciting but we wanted to have some time to celebrate our marriage.

So, to celebrate our special day we went to Mrs. Barker's Pastry Shop.  I've been wanting to go there for a while, it's a cute little shop on S. Temple in Salt Lake.  We also went to a gas station and picked up some milk.  Pretty fancy eh?

We got some yummy pastries.

And we went to the spot where David proposed to enjoy our treats.  It was fun to go to our special place to just talk and enjoy being together.

Love him!

I'm so happy every day just knowing that I get to have my best friend with me forever! I'm so grateful for the gospel, for my Savior Jesus Christ, for temples and for the Priesthood power that all make it possible for my family to be eternal.  I don't know what I would do if didn't have a knowledge of forever families.  David means the world to me and now that we have Lily, the plan of salvation means so much more to me.  I love my husband, I love my daughter, and I'm so blessed to have them in my life...forever!  Happy Two Years David! I love you!

Visitors

We were happy to have some family come to meet Lily. Here are a few pictures of her first visitors.

Aunt Caitlin and Uncle Isaac came up Friday night. David's brother Chris also visited us in the hospital as well as my mom and Holly, somehow we didn't get pictures of them all.

David's family came to visit once we got home because little kids aren't allowed in the maternity ward.

They all got a chance to hold Lily, but Grant was so cute.  He wanted to hold her as soon as he saw her.  He raised his hands out and said, "Mine! Mine! Mine!"  It was adorable.  It will be fun to live so close to cousins!

Uncle Brandon was in town to spend some time with Laura's family so we were happy that he could come and visit us too!

Great Grandma Creek came to visit us, but I wasn't feeling well enough to get a picture that day.  I was fighting off a migraine!  So we went to visit her so that we could get a four-generation picture.  I need to learn not to try to take pictures when Lily is hungry! :)

First Bath and Coming Home

Lily didn't 'earn' her bath until 18 hours after she was born.  The nurses want the baby to get a few good feedings in before they take their bath.  Apparently it's a traumatizing experience and makes them very sleepy and less likely to eat afterwards so they want to bathe them on a full stomach.  It took Lily and me a while to get the whole nursing thing figured out enough for them to let her get a bath.  I kept asking them all day if she could have a bath.  She had all that long hair, and you can't really tell in the pictures, but it was very gunked up from delivery and I just wanted her to get cleaned up.

Finally, they said she could get her bath so we headed down to the nursery.  The nurse kindly warned us that Lily would most likely scream the entire time and it's completely normal.  David and I were skeptical because we hadn't heard her cry yet.  And just as we thought, Lily decided that bath time wasn't scary, in fact she looked like she was enjoying some great pampering.  She loved it!

Clean baby! Just hanging out under the warming light after the bath.
We left the hospital the next day.  David dressed Lily in her going home outfit.  This outfit is kind of a tradition in the Fairall family.  David's parents bought 2 going home outfits when they had their first child, one for a boy, one for a girl.  They didn't know what they would be having.  So they took both outfits to the hospital.  Turns out it was a boy, and so were the next 3 children.  So the girl outfit never got used.  But the first grandchild was a girl so she used it.  And now all the grandchildren have come home in either the boy or girl outfit.  So Lily got to wear this special outfit home as well.

David started to put her in it and just at that moment, Lily found her lungs!  We really hadn't heard her cry yet, but boy was she unhappy about having her clothes changed!  So yes, Lily can cry, although it still doesn't happen much.
Poor thing did not like being changed!

But it didn't take long for her to calm down for the ride home.

Here we go!!
Here are a few pictures of the special going home outfit.
