Good, Make that GREAT, News!

I finally got a full-time, benefited job, in my field!

For a while there I thought I was just going to be an intern for the rest of my life.  But I feel so blessed to have this opportunity.  It's been a long time coming, with several applications, a few interviews, lots of prayers and fasting, and no offers.  No offers that is until this week, when I got two!

So I found a job that I was really interested in here in Provo.  It would have been super convenient since it's only two blocks from home (as opposed to my hour long commute to Salt Lake).  So I applied, got called for an interview, and did the interview on Wednesday.  Wednesday evening my boss in Salt Lake offered me a job, and wanted me to start immediately.  David and I knew that this offer might be coming but we wanted to see what would happen with the Provo job before we made a decision.  After discussing it all night long we decided that even if I did get the Provo job, the Salt Lake offer was a better option.  Se we decided to go with it!  I actually got a call from Provo the next day saying they gave the position to someone else but they offered me another position instead.  However, the new position was a lower level job with no benefits.  So I happily told them that in the mean time I had been offered a much better job elsewhere! (But not quite like that of course).
So I accepted my first full-time, benefited position with the Utah Department of Health in the Tobacco Prevention and Control Program as a Health Program Specialist II.  Needless to say, I feel very grown up!  And also very blessed to be able to provide better for our little family!

Happy Birthday David!

Planning David's birthday was so fun!  His birthday is January 3rd, so it's pretty close to Christmas. I often have a hard time thinking of gifts for people so I was worried that with Christmas and birthday so close together I wouldn't have any ideas. But luckily I came up with something and I got really excited to plan it all.  I decided to do a soccer themed birthday because David really likes soccer.
I got him some new soccer socks, and a really sweet soccer ball (that he loves!).

I also made him this soccer cake!  It was so fun!  I haven't ever really tried to decorate a cake like this before and I had a blast doing it.  I learned a thing or two about cake decorating, so hopefully I'll get better.  But I think for my first time it turned out pretty good!

I also invited David's brother and his family to come to dinner at our apartment.  They hadn't seen our place yet so it was really fun to have them down here! We love spending time with them and their kids!

I tried to keep all these things a surprise, but it turns out I'm not very sneaky and David pretty much knew everything I had planned!  Oh well, he still had a fun birthday, and I'll just have to work on my sneakiness for next year!

I'm so glad to have a day to celebrate the greatness that is DAVID!  I love him so much, and I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband!

My Smarty Pants Husband!

So David worked REALLY hard this semester.  Lots of reading and writing assignments in all of his classes kept him pretty busy.  He was so dedicated and worked hard, but towards the end of the semester things weren't looking good.  He was having a hard time keeping up with it all, but he still kept trying, and we prayed for help.  As finals approached you could find him in the library until 2:00am.  He would call me at home, (where I was definitely asleep) to come pick him up.  He would come home, sleep for maybe 4 1/2 hours and then have to go to work in the morning!  It was a hard for me too because I felt so bad that he wasn't getting enough sleep!  But I'm happy to announce that all the prayers and hard work payed off!  He was so pleased with his grades, and somehow ended up with much higher grades than anticipated.  His grades are as follows:

A, B-, A-, A, A

I am so proud of him!
