Independence Day

The Fourth of July came right before our family reunion this year.  My family was coming for the reunion but somehow they managed to get some more time off so they were here in time to celebrate the Fourth as well.  We had a fun day. Mom, Dad, Hunter and Alyssa spent the night at our place and then we woke up on the Fourth and went down to Provo.  Caitlin and Isaac provided a great pancake breakfast and then we watched the parade.  We spent the rest of the day hanging out in Provo.  We went to the carnival, had subway for lunch, and even went to the pool for a while.

I also made the same yummy cake that I made last year for the Fourth.  I LOVE that cake! Even though we had so many people around, I still think I managed to eat about half of it myself.  That will definitely be a Fourth of July tradition for the Fairall family!! :)

I should mention that someone very important was missing from all these festivities...David.  He had to work at one of RSL's soccer matches that day.  Luckily, he was able to get a ticket for me to come and watch the game.  So I watched while he worked and then we were able to meet up afterward to watch the post-game fireworks together.  It was great to be able to still spend some time with him that day!

I love holidays, it's so great to spend time with family and create such good memories.  I feel blessed that I got to see all my family that day!  I'm also grateful for the meaning behind Independence Day.  For FHE the Monday before the Fourth, we read the Declaration of Independence.  It was a great reminder of why our country was set up, and the things that we stand for.  I'm blessed to live in such a great county where we enjoy many freedoms that others will never know.
