Here are a few things about Lily:
- She was a roly poly thing weeks and weeks ago.
- She started scooting around at about 5 months, and now she is pretty much unstoppable.
- She loves to crawl towards anything she shouldn't have (computer, cords, phones left on the floor), so we've started to babyproof our home.
- She is so happy and loves to smile.
- She loves to be swaddled tightly, and have her pacifier to go to sleep.
- She has started to eat some solid food every once in a while and seems to do great with spoon feeding.
- She sits up pretty well, but is still kinda wobbly and would rather be scooting around anyway.
- She now goes to a babysitter! (David got a JOB!) But it's a little tough for mom to leave her there all day.
- She gets a big smile when I pick her up after work, and I love it. Whenever I drop her off and pick her up I whisper, "I'm your mommy" in case she forgets while I'm gone.
- She just decided she likes to splash in the tub and that is really fun!
- No teeth...yet.
- She loves her daddy, he can make her laugh so hard...it's adorable.
- She also loves the cute baby that lives in the mirror, we call her Lulu, because she looks an awful lot like Lily. ;)
- She's starting to be a bit more snugly, which I love and I hope it only becomes more true.
- She LOVES playing peek a boo under a blanket.
I recently read something along the lines of, "The days and nights can seem long, but the weeks and months fly by." This is so true! It's exciting and scary at the same time. Each new day brings new things that Lily learns, she grows and it's amazing to watch. But sometimes I hold her now and remember that just 6 months ago I was holding her in a hospital bed, getting to know her for the first time. She will never be that small, ever again so I have to remember to hold her close, watch her while she sleeps, get down on the floor and really play with her. Each moment is unique and precious and will never come back. That word, never, seems harsh but it is really a reminder to make the most of right now, live in the moment, enjoy what God has blessed me with Today, to be grateful for what I have, and not think of what I want.
So Today, we celebrate 6 Months of Joy, brought to us by this perfect little girl!
She is officially the cutest niece of all time. And she's so lucky to have such fun parents! Happy half birthday, Lily! You're becoming such a fun, happy little girl!
