Ninja Bug

We're not quite sure why, but we refer to our little baby as the "Ninja Bug.'  The ninja part comes from the fact that we can hardly tell it's really there.  Especially at the beginning, I didn't get sick, and I wasn't showing, so even though the nurse said there was a baby in there, it was hard to believe.  We figured this whole thing was going to sneak up on us and before we knew what hit us, we'd have a baby!  Just like a Ninja right? to sneak up on you, and you don't know what hit you until it's over.  For whatever reason, the nickname stuck.  One day I called it a bug, and David seemed to think that was really cute, so we added that too.  Who knows what this kid will be called in the end!  But we love it so much already!  We're so excited to not call it "It" anymore.  I want to know if it's a girl baby or a boy baby.  I ask it all the time, but we won't really know for about two more weeks.

Here are the first sightings of our little Ninja Bug at almost 13 weeks! (We're now at 17 weeks).
 I am in love!

"Hi, Mom & Dad!"  I love this one!

Valentine's Day 2012

David was in charge of our Valentine's Day activities this year, we take turns every other year.  So, he planned for us to go out to eat, he got me some flowers, the chapstick I love, and a gift certificate for a manicure!  We also had some delicious fondue!  He did a great job planning everything and we had a great night.

This is right before we went out to dinner!  My date is so handsome!!

We went to Macaroni Grill and had a delicious dinner!  We've only been there once before, about 4 or 5 years ago.  But the hostess sat us in the same booth we ate at before!
These are the yummy things that we dipped into the fondue.  It was so yummy, David did a great job!

As my gift to David, I got him a bunch of balloons filled with love notes, and some chocolate.  It's always fun to take time and think of all the things I love about my David.  I'm so lucky to have him in my life and he makes me so happy.  We have fun together and I'm looking forward to lots more Valentine's Days together.  It's also super fun that Valentine's Day marks our 1/2 anniversary.  So this Valentine's Day we celebrated 1.5 years together!

I LOVE this boy!!

A Special Gift

I know that Christmas was forever ago, but I wanted to share at least one picture from our trip to Pennsylvania.

This is the gift we gave David's parents for Christmas.  Needless to say, they were thrilled, as were my parents and other family members.  David and I are so excited to welcome a new addition to our family later this year!!

Happy Birthday to Me

Here are some fun pics from my birthday this year! It was so fun!
We got up pretty early and David made me breakfast!
German Pancakes! Yum!
He stayed up late the night before and made this sign for me.  You can also see the flowers he got me.
Not a great picture, but I found that slip of paper as I was unloading groceries later that day.  It's a gift certificate for a pedicure! (My first ever!)  David got me an appointment for that day so I went out to get a pedicure!
Here are the results!
The girl who did my pedicure found out that it was my birthday so she offered to do my nails for free!  And she put a few curls in my hair!  I got the full treatment, it was such a great present from David!  He's good at getting wonderful surprises.
This is what I came home to after my pampering session.  David had made me a delicious dinner.  This is one of our favorite meals.  He first made it for me on Valentine's Day when we were dating.  This is the first time he's been so creative with his presentation.  I think we've watched to much Iron Chef around here.  : )
After dinner, I opened some presents.  Thanks to my family for all the fun gifts!  We went to the movies after that.  It was an action packed, fun-filled day!  I absolutely LOVE birthdays.  Big thanks to my sweetie for making it so exciting!

San Francisco

Our nephew Landon was born about three weeks ago. He is the first grandchild on the Hightower side of the family and we are all so happy that he has finally arrived! So happy, in fact, that we decided to drop everything and go visit him and the new parents, Brandon and Laura. David and I both had business trips last week so we've been all over the country in the last few days. David went to Denver to help with a presentation about his job at BYU. I went to Atlanta for a conference for work. So when we decided to go to San Francisco we planned to leave as soon as I got back from Atlanta. I had enough time to go home and switch out my suitcase and we drove all night. Props to my wonderful husband for taking on the bulk of the driving, he was amazing! Is amazing!

So we got to their house on Friday morning and spent the weekend snuggling that cute baby boy. Holly came with us too so we took her to see some of the touristy stuff. We went shopping, got yummy crepes for lunch one day, went to Pier 39 to see the sea lions and we did end up going to Safeway again for lunch! We went there last time and got a panini and a pizza and they were so good that we had to go back again. We got to go to church with Brandon on Sunday and I found out that two guys from my freshman ward at BYU were in their ward. It's a small world in the church. On Sunday we also went on the roof of the apartment to watch a flight show. They had all these stunt planes flying over the bay. It was pretty cool. San Francisco is really a cool city and we love to go visit there. Thanks to Brandon and Laura for letting us stay with them and keeping us very well fed. It was such a fun trip and we can't wait to go visit again!

Best Year Ever, and Only Getting Better!

David and I recently celebrated our first year of marriage.  I don't even know where to start when it comes to him!  I am truly blessed to have such a great husband.  Our first year has been wonderful, the more time I spend with him the more in love I fall.  He makes me laugh everyday.  I love how excited he is to see me when I come home from work.  I love that he needs hugs from me constantly.  I love that he always remembers to have family prayer and scripture study every night.  He is a very humble person, and the greatest friend that I could ever have.  Not a day goes by that I'm not amazed by how blessed I am that he and I ended up together for eternity.

Our anniversary happened in the middle of family visits and graduation celebrations but we were able to squeeze in a very fun date.  We went to dinner in Salt Lake City at P.F. Changs
I chose P.F. Chang's because this is where David took me on our second date.

This guy is the love of my life!  Love those sweet blue eyes!
After dinner David took me to the Josh Groban concert!  It was so good!  David was really sweet to get those tickets for us!  We had a great time!
This first year was fantastic and I can't wait to see what comes for us in year two!! It's gonna be good!
